Fraction Think Board

This week we were learning about fractions and how to show them in different ways.

We had to make a think board to show our learning.  I chose to do my think board on one fourth or one quarter. We did different strategies.

I thought changing the fractions to decimals was the hardest because I don't really know decimals.

My next learning goal is to find out about tenths and hundredths.

The three little pigs map!!!

W.A.L.T: Describe a setting

This week my literary group were doing a setting map. First we watch a video telling our fairy tale.  My group is focusing on The three little pigs.  Then we had to make a map showing each of the settings in the story.  Settings is the places in the story. This is my map showing the different settings and the numbers show the order each place came up in the story.

I enjoyed this activity because I like fairy tales and it was fun to draw a map instead of writing about the setting.

Marae Visit

On Tuesday the 7th of August some classes in my school went to visit Arahura Marae. First we got welcomed in with a powhiri. Once we were inside and we had listened to speeches we sang Te Aroha and they sang something too. Then we all shook hands and did a hongi.  After that a man told us a Maori story, it was around lunch so we had morning tea. He blessed the food with a karakia.   We had lots of kai to choose from.  After we had food it was raining so we went back inside and they told us about all of carvings . It was a great experience and I would like to go back there again.
